Autumn Winter self-care checklist

Temperatures are dropping and the need to snuggle is calling: Winter is coming.

As the leaves change colours, make changes to your self-care routine too.

Autumn is a second spring where every leaf is a flower – Albert Camus

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate

8 litres of water a day is still the standard to keep your body looking and feeling its very best. Indoor heating and dry air saps the moisture from our skin. Switch to thicker, richer moisturisers for your face and body.

Get winter ready with facials and mani-pedis

Get your skin and body ready for the cooler temps. Besides, who doesn’t love new nails?

Experience the great outdoors and enjoy the beautiful autumn colours

Spending time outside is beneficial for your mental health and your physical fitness – regardless of the season. Get amongst the trees and fresh air to brighten up your mood.

Get enough sunlight

Get your daily dose of vitamin D. With fewer hours of sunlight and gloomier weather, it’s easy to get into a funk. Get out into the sun or pull out your vitamin D supplements to keep your mood vibrant – even when the days are grey.

Enjoy seasonal flavours and colours

Add more orange to your foods: sweet potatoes, pumpkins and carrots are great sources of antioxidant beta-carotene to boost heathy hair, skin and vision. Roast them with some olive oil and spices for a nutritious and delicious treat.

Bring the outdoors in

Turn your home into an Autumnal or Winter wonderland with discarded pinecones, seasonal flowers or fallen leaves for table centre pieces, garlands and wreaths.

Enjoy more naps

Autumn and Winter are perfect nap seasons. Slow down, snuggle down and give your body and mind the rest they deserve.

Always practice gratitude

This is important all year round but it’s a healthy reminder to take stock of all the wonderful people and things in your life. Try writing your family and friends a thoughtful thank you note detailing why they’re so special to you: it’s a great excuse to reconnect and will make you both feel awesome.

Take warm baths

If there’s anything we love about cooler temps, it’s the excuse of a warm up with a bubble bath. Soaking in the tub is the perfect prep for your at-home pedicure. No tub? Go for a luxuriously hot shower with a shower bomb or steamers for that extra special touch

Do all of the Autumn Winter things

Anything that feels like Autumn or Winter – bring it in. Get into Pumpkin Spice Lattes. Light up sandalwood candles. Binge on old skool movies. Go fruit picking. Watch a football game. Pull out the plaid. The seasonal options are endless: revel in it

A healthy you is a happy you – no matter the season

Feel more motivated to take on new challenges and enjoy the bounties of Autumn and Winter.
