The cost of clutter

Clutter is not just mess. Clutter also impacts your anxiety levels, sleep, ability to focus and your productivity.

Your anxiety levels soar, making it challenging to relax and enjoy your surroundings. A cluttered space interferes with the quality of your sleep so it’s harder to get the rest you need to tackle the day ahead. Clutter also disrupts your ability to focus, leading to decreased productivity and motivation.

The cost of clutter adds up over time, affecting your overall happiness and wellbeing. An uncluttered space means an uncluttered mind with the time for a harmonious, happy and productive life.

Anything unfinished, unused, unresolved or disorganised is clutter. Clear your clutter to create space for new energy and creativity.

7 steps to start decluttering

Start with just 5 minutes at a time

Take small steps and don’t feel overwhelmed by the task ahead. 5 minutes a day makes a significant difference over time.

Do it bit by bit

Break down the decluttering process into manageable chunks. Work on one area at a time and gradually spread out to other parts of your home or office.

Create a decluttering checklist

Write down your goals and celebrate your achievements to track your progress.

Fill a bag

Take the challenge to fill a bag of items to donate or discard. This helps focus and eliminate clutter easily.

Donate clothes and items you don’t wear or need any more

It’s the gift that keeps on giving! Donate items to charity, recycle or repurpose. You’ll feel great about decluttering – and helping others in need.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help

Ask for support from friends and your family – including your kids. When children learn about decluttering, they’ll grow into uncluttered adults.

Be kind to you

This is most important: Don’t beat yourself up. Decluttering is a process – enjoy the journey. Decluttering is all about peace of mind, so be patient and kind to yourself every step of the way
